Activities
Dinners
Each evening during the Symposium we are suggesting a particular restaurant for dinner, so we hope you'll join us there and mingle!
PSM Improv Comedy Show
On the evening of Thursday, June 19, our very own Luke Scorcio has arranged a special Symposium improv comedy show at the Backlot Comedy House, beginning at 9:00 pm. The Backlot is located close to campus, and just north of the Premier Waterfront Hotel, on Main Street.
While in Oshkosh you may want to go off and scout on your own. We recommend the following activities:
Experimental Aircraft Association
The world famous Experimental Aircraft Association has its AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, along Highway 41. There is a city bus that will take you there, where you will see an impressive collection of aircraft on display. Well worth visiting! http://www.eaa.org/en/eaa-museum
Shopping
If shopping is your thing, the outlet mall, on the other side of Highway 41, has many factory outlet stores selling items at reduced prices. Stores include Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Oshkosh B'Gosh. http://horizongroup.com/our-centers/oshkosh/
The Fox River Mall is in Appleton just to the west of Highway 41, on the way back to the Appleton Airport.
Walking Trails and Parks
The Oshkosh River Walk along the Fox River has been a work in progress for years now, part of downtown Oshkosh's beautification and revival plan. If you're staying at the Premier Waterfront Hotel you are right on it. From campus and Sage Hall, if you're facing the river, walk to your left along the path towards downtown.
The Wiouwash Trail starts along the Fox River on campus and goes north (to your right if you're facing the river) and stretches many miles (kilometers!) along what was once a railroad track. It is popular for walking, jogging, and bicycling.
Menominee Park is a 25 minute walk from Horizon Village, directly east along Irving Avenue. The park stretches a long way on the shore of Lake Winnebago, home of the Oshkosh Yacht Club and its beautifully restored home, The Waters.
